1. Brewster Angle Design for Ultra-Low P-Polarization Loss

Designed to operate at Brewster's Angle (56° for K9, 56.5° for fused silica), this polarizer achieves near-zero reflection loss for P-polarized light while substantially reflecting S-polarized light . Uncoated substrates at Brewster angle exhibit minimal Fresnel reflections, enabling transmission efficiencies >95% for the desired polarization without any coating-induced absorption . This makes it ideal for intra-cavity applications where minimizing loss is critical.

2. High Extinction Ratio >1000:1

The polarizer delivers an extinction ratio exceeding 1000:1 (Tp:Ts) , ensuring clean polarization separation . When used inside a laser cavity, multiple passes through the Brewster plate progressively suppresses the S-component, resulting in highly pure P-polarized laser output . For applications requiring even higher contrast, multiple Brewster plates can be stacked to achieve >10,000:1 extinction.

3. Exceptional Laser Damage Threshold

The Brewster angle design relies on the substrate's refractive index rather than delicate interference coatings. This results in a significantly higher laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) compared to conventional thin-film polarizers . Typical LIDT values for fused silica Brewster windows exceed 20 J/cm² @1064nm, 10ns pulse, making them suitable for high-energy pulsed and high-power CW lasers.

4. Broadband Operation Without Coating

Unlike thin-film polarizers that are optimized for specific laser lines, Brewster angle polarizers function over the entire transparency range of the substrate material . K9 covers the visible spectrum (350-2000nm), while fused silica extends from UV (200nm) to near-IR (2500nm). This eliminates the need for multiple polarizers when working with tunable lasers or multiple wavelengths.

5. Dual Material Options for Your Power Requirements

Choose K9 for cost-effective visible to near-IR applications with moderate power (<50W CW), or Fused Silica for high-power CW lasers (>100W) and UV wavelengths. Fused silica offers ultra-low thermal expansion (0.55 × 10⁻⁶ /K) and superior thermal stability under high thermal load.
