Infrared illuminator is an advanced lighting equipment that uses infrared radiation technology to emit invisible infrared light, which can penetrate long distances and penetrate haze, smoke and other atmospheric pollutants. This special infrared light can illuminate the surrounding environment in the dark.
Infrared illuminators are used in a variety of applications that require visibility in low or no light conditions. The most common application for infrared illuminators is in night vision technology, where they provide cameras or devices equipped with infrared-sensitive sensors with the necessary illumination to capture images or video in environments with little or no visible light. These devices are widely used in security systems, surveillance cameras, wildlife observation, and military operations.
Infrared illuminators work by emitting infrared light that is invisible to the human eye but can be detected by sensors or cameras designed to capture infrared wavelengths. Some cameras have built-in IR cut filters that block visible light while allowing infrared light to pass through, thereby increasing sensitivity to infrared illumination.
There are many types of infrared illuminators, including:
Near-infrared (NIR) illuminators: These illuminators emit infrared light at wavelengths close to the visible spectrum, typically around 700 nm to 900 nm. They are often used in scenarios where a balance between visibility and stealth is required.
Mid-wave infrared (MWIR) illuminator: Emits light in the mid-infrared spectrum, typically between 1,000 nm and 3,000 nm. MWIR illuminators are used in applications such as thermal imaging and scientific research.
Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) illuminators: Emit light at longer wavelengths in the infrared spectrum, typically over 3,000 nm. Longwave infrared illuminators are commonly used in thermal imaging cameras and equipment.
