There are currently two mainstream tube categories which are Gen2+ and Gen3. Gen 3 devices handle low-light conditions better than Gen 2+. In addition, Gen 3 provide cleaner and brighter images being better in every department including increased tube life expectancy.

The SNR is determined by the image intensifier tube and the internal optical path of the night vision device. The higher the SNR, the better the night vision device's ability to resist external interference and the smaller the internal optical path interference. Therefore, the noise and distortion of the image is smaller, and then the image is clearer .

Spatial resolution is the detail in pixels of an image. High spatial resolution means more detail and a smaller grid cell size. Whereas, lower spatial resolution means less detail and larger pixel size. Spatial resolution is quantified in the number of line pairs that can be distinguised per millimeter (lp/mm).

The calculation method of FOM is the product of resolution times SNR, which is used to evaluate the overall performance of night vision devices. For this parameter, 1000 is the minimum acceptable standard, 1600 is good to use, and 2100+ is pretty great.

Magnification is a numerical value that expresses the relationship between the actual size of an object and its magnified size. General magnifications include 1X, 3X, 5X, 6X, 7X, etc.

With the lens of the optical instrument as the vertex, the angle formed by the two edges of the maximum observation range of the object image is called the field of view angle. The field of view determines the field of view of the optical instrument. The larger the field of view, the larger the field of view and the smaller the optical magnification. The FOV of a monocular night vision device at 1x is about 40°, and that of a binocular at 1x is also about 40°. The field of view of Panoramic Night Vision Goggles can reach 80°-120°.

This parameter commonly is IP65, IP67, IP68, etc. Taking IP65 as an example, the first number 6 refers to the dustproof level, and the second number 5 refers to the waterproof level.

BRI-PVS14 Night Vision Monocular has an excellent performance.
